Prayer, Evangelism & Service

A VERY BIG “THANK YOU” to Adrian Ang & Tham Kong Weng and the cast & crew of Silver Airplane.

All of you did a splendid job that the whole church can be proud of. Your hard work and faith paid off. We may not have seen a bountiful harvest (how we wish that that would always happen), but we can be certain that the message of forgiveness came across clearly, and the seed of the Gospel has been planted in the hearts of the many unchurched who came.

A round of “Thank You” must also go to the prayer warriors who prayed, away from the sight of man, right through all the three meetings. They stood in the gap for the unchurched, the performers, the speaker and the event, and played just as major a role as the cast and crew of the production.

There will be many more such evangelistic events and I trust that all of us at PJEFC will seize every opportunity to engage in evangelism, prayer and hard work to win our friends to Jesus. In fact the next opportunity is just round the corner. The Celebration of Hope project is only about one and half months away and we really need to get cracking. Please note that training for the event is scheduled for Sunday, 18th Nov. HF leaders please get your COH groups organised and sign up the leaders and the hosts for the training.

Turning to another matter, in 2006 the then Outreach Ministry published a booklet, Guidelines on Outreach Opportunities; where various outreach opportunities and plans were set out. One of these was the proposal to establish a Child Development Centre.

After much leg work, long deliberations and prayer, the church is now about to realize a partnership with a Christian group who is experienced and successful in operating Kindergartens. The Kindergarten to be established here will very much be a PJEFC ministry, and progressively more so over time, as its establishment is based on the concept of Build-Operate-Transfer. That is to say, when we are ready, the whole operation will eventually be transferred to the church.

We believe this is the right thing to do as the Kindergarten will provide the church with a two-fold opportunity, 1. To meet the needs of the community and 2. To touch a new group of people with the Gospel.

More details will be given to you at the Congregational meeting on Sunday, 11th Nov. In the meantime, if you have Kindy-age children or grandchildren, you may want to consider registering them here. Or if you are a Kindy teacher, or would like to be a Kindy teacher, you may want to consider working here (contact person: Pr Nicky).

Finally, can I solicit your prayer for the Leaders’ Retreat. We will be up in Fraser’s Hill from Thursday, 8th to Saturday, 10th Nov. 81 of us will be there: Board members and HF leaders, together with some of our spouses. It can be a pivotal time for us, and therefore the church… if our hearts are open wide to the Lord…

It is not a planning retreat to talk about goals and objectives. It is a “seeking” retreat to let the Lord speak to us, the wider leadership of PJEFC. If you don’t know what else to pray for, pray the prayer of young Samuel, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening” (1 Sam 3:10).

Pray for us…
