I think we had a fairly successful outing with the inaugural Super Sundae: Vision Sunday, last week. For those who went through all the Growth Stations, I am sure, you will now be able to articulate the Growth Process easily and clearly.
What about those of you who didn’t stay on? I’m really sorry you didn’t—because it would have greatly helped you understand what the Lord is doing in PJEFC, and how He intends to move us forward. You see, as a church, people can’t be doing different things and doing things differently. If we did, we would be going in all sorts of directions; and we will not have any sense of pursuing a common purpose. This will result in a disjoint between members and even between ministries.
Interestingly, the Lord laid upon my heart a word that would capture the theme for the Leaders’ Retreat in June—Resonance. The speaker, Pr Jeremiah Yap, wrote to me and said, “That’s a cool theme.” This is not another Ra, Ra, Ra retreat to get the leaders on the same page. No, this is a time to hear the heart of God and to feel the heart of God. This is the time to let the Lord speak to us, so we resonate with Him. The Christian life is not about us; it’s about Him. Church is not about us either; it’s about Him. So, we need to resonate with Him.
The Leaders’ Retreat is for all Ministry Leaders, Cell Leaders, Assistant Cell Leaders and your spouses. Don’t miss the opportunity to come away with the rest of the wider leadership of the church to seek the Lord. When we resonate with the Lord, we will resonate with one another. That’s the principle of the tuning fork.
Pr Jeremiah Yap is a seasoned pastor, and now serves as the pastor-at-large for the New Life Restoration Centre association of churches. He has a powerful prophetic ministry. I am sorry we can’t invite the whole church for this Retreat. The reason is because we need to focus on the leaders of the church. When leaders are in want; members will suffer the consequences. Let us have this time to feed the shepherds so they will be strong and vibrant to lead you. Maybe we will do a church camp some time in the near future.
Back to what I started out writing about. I hope it has become clearer to you from my message last Sunday, that our church vision is very much in line with the Great Commission (Mt 28:19-20) and the eternal purpose of God (Rev.7:9). This can be traced all the way back to the Old Testament when the Lord called Israel to be a testimony to the nations—about what it means to be a people under God. Unfortunately, Israel failed; and now the baton has been passed to the Church—and to PJEFC. We must not fail; we cannot fail.
To have a purpose is wonderful, but to get From Here To There requires a Process. That is why we have put the PJEFC Growth Process in place to empower every member to be an effective disciple-maker to fulfil the Great Commission. How I pray that you can see its importance and value. When you get onto the Growth Process you will be able to encourage others to do the same.
At the conclusion of Vision Sunday, all those who stayed right to the end made a pledge. We have put it into a bookmark as a gentle reminder for you. If you weren’t here last Sunday to make the pledge, its not too late, I urge you to take ownership of it.
I really believe we are on an exciting journey with the Lord. I encourage you, Come on, get on board!
PrSH
