Thank you for praying for us when we were away at the pastoral staff retreat. Your prayer made a difference and we had a good and meaningful time together. For one, we prayed more than I had planned—and that must be good. After all, what good can come out of any planning meeting without much prayer; we’d only be thinking from the top of our heads. We need God’s leading to lead the church—and I believe this is what we received from the Lord— not in great details, but we do have the broad strokes.
I can’t jump the gun and tell you too much because I will have to bounce off these dreams and visions, direction and objectives with the church board.
One thing I can share with you is that we are looking at 2020 as a target date to work towards the things that the Lord wants us to do during this chapter of PJEFC’s story. Vision 2020 sounds quite nice. Our nation has its Wawasan 2020; that Malaysia would be a developed nation by then. What will PJEFC be in 2020? Tune in to this column for the next instalment of the Lord’s master-plan for PJEFC.
2020 is about 12 years away. That’s a reasonable period of time to work towards a vision. In case you think that’s a long way away; it’s really not. One day we are going to wake up and be surprised—it’s 2020! On the other hand, we cannot just look at these 12 years as one long journey. Anyone who has been involved in developing and working at corporate objectives will know that we need to break this journey up into stages.
We’re looking at three stages of about four years each. In our discussion, the pastoral staff didn’t have the time to look (nor the ability to predict) into the later two stages. However, we believe we know what needs to be done in the first period. Wouldn’t you like to know?... …Just stay tuned!
