28 Sept '08 Membership 101

First, a BIG THANK YOU to all who gave us a splendid presentation at the Project Harvest event: Second Chance. It looks like this is going to be a permanent feature in the church—and I certainly encourage this. I believe that the Creative Ministry is an important and effective means to help the church fulfil its evangelistic mandate. Of course, much more work needs to be done: corrections need to be made and the standard needs to be raised, and I believe we have a good pool of very talented and dedicated people right here in PJEFC who can help us do this. So, when the next audition is called for—don’t hide, don’t be shy; respond to the call.

The failure to communicate clearly is perhaps one of the major causes for the inability of a group of people or an organization or a church to move forward together. Similarly, the failure to receive feedback from interested parties: workers, members, …citizens, produces the same undesirable result.

Very seldom do we over-communicate. More often than not, we under-communicate or poorly communicate. Membership 101: PJEFC & YOU is our attempt to get this right.

What do we believe? What are we doing? Where are we going? What’s our (God-given) vision? What’s our philosophy of ministry? If we are not clear, we can’t move together.

A couple of months ago I wrote very briefly, in this column, about PJEFC’s Vision 2020. A vision that arose at the Pastoral Staff retreat held at the end of July. I couldn’t say more since then, until I had run it through the Church Board. Now, its time to share with you, and what better platform than at Membership 101: PJEFC & YOU. I can’t stress it strong enough, how important it is for you to attend this class.

We have provided you with six possible options!
• Saturday, 27 September
• Sunday, 28 September
• Saturday 4 October
• Sunday, 5 October
• Saturday, 11 October
• Sunday 12 October

I’m sure you will be free on one of those days (or make time to be free) to attend this only 4-hr class (2-6pm).

We want everyone to attend. Even if you have attended a membership class recently—you still need to attend. Even if you have been a member since PJEFC’s inception—you still have to attend. If you are new to the church and you are not yet a registered member of PJEFC—all the more you should attend. This is the best opportunity to learn what PJEFC is all about. In other words, everyone’s to attend—including the youths (Teens & College students).

It won’t be all one way communication. There will be time for Q&A and to hear your comments. Let me suggest that you come as a cell group so that some of your collective concerns and questions can be addressed.

Be assured that Membership 101: PJEFC & YOU will be interestingly presented. It won’t be just all talk. There will be video and power point presentations about PJEFC’s story, church leaders and pastoral team and church ministries. At the end of the class, you’ll come away with a better understanding of the what and where of PJEFC, and perhaps even the how come?. More importantly you’ll come away saying, “I believe this a God-thing and I want to be a part of this.”

Please sign-up TODAY! to help facilitate organization. We are printing booklets and organising tea for you.

See you at Membership 101: PJEFC & YOU.
