9 Nov '08 Empowering Generations for Global Reach

I hope you noticed a significant change in the bulletin- on the page carrying the vision statement. After all the sharing at Membership 101 and subsequent tweaking, we’ve finally nailed it down to a clear crisp statement.

PJEFC’s Vision 2020 is: To be ‘A Resource Church Empowering Generations of Kingdom Christians for Global Reach.’

The bullet point explanations are given to you in the bulletin and it will be superfluous for me to repeat this here. Please read it carefully.

Just one little point to note, however. We have a shortened version of the vision statement to aid quick recall and impact. Call it a tagline if you like—PJEFC: Empowering Generations for Global Reach.

If someone asks you what’s PJEFC about, you may simply answer, “We’re about ‘empowering generations for global reach.’” You can then elaborate further by giving the full vision statement and, if you like, give the fuller explanation of each of the four components of our vision. It’s not that difficult.

Even more important than knowing our vision, I really hope you will take ownership. We are to be a Resource Church to bless the work of the Kingdom. The Lord has blessed us with much and therefore we have the greater responsibility to help others. It does not matter if we do things or share our resources without any direct benefit to the church. It’s for the Kingdom of God. We must be Kingdom minded. We must think in terms of Kingdom advancement—globally. This is clearly in line with the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8.

One of the in-words today, is glocal. Although we didn’t coin the word, but I believe that the Church of Jesus has been doing this long before anyone else. And PJEFC must be no less a glocal church —Local in our base but Global in our Reach.

This is what we are to do. But how do we do it? Here, is where we come to the most important component of our vision. We do this by Empowering Generations of Kingdom Christians. From the young to the more mature, we are to raise up disciples and disciple-makers and spiritual leaders. Now, without apologies, because we have to think about the future, the young people must be a prime focus.

Furthermore, in order to give a concerted thrust for both Heritage Centre and PJEFC, we will also now nail down the tagline for Heritage Centre (which I have shared with you many times before)—Heritage Centre: Building for Tomorrow. With Kingdom Kids (Kindergarten) and UTAR using our premises as part of its PJ campus we are effectively sharing our resources to build our community and nation for tomorrow.

I am excited at what the Lord is doing. I hope you are too. Can I count on you to join the rest of us in this God-thing?
