I’m glad and I’m sad….
I’m very glad for the overwhelming response to the 1st Women’s Encounter Weekend, and I am very sad that we cannot accommodate everyone. But that’s what makes the programme so effective: the small group structure allows for effective ministry. Forgive us if we can’t accommodate you. There’ll be subsequent ones, and we will keep on conducting these Encounters until everyone has had a chance to attend one.
Now, the excitement from the 1st Men’s Encounter Weekend has triggered a request for a 2nd Men’s EW to be conducted ASAP instead of waiting till October. The pastoral team has looked at the church calendar and then the plates on our table, and then again on our plates (no mistake here), and we think, OK, we can squeeze in the 2nd Men’s EW in June 5-7 (Agong’s Birthday weekend). It takes a lot of work and energy to organise each Encounter (not forgetting the 30 days of intense prayer prior to the EW), and I hope and pray that we will get the enthusiastic response of the men for this.

Next up. The Purpose Driven Life Campaign (PDLC). And this is what I really want to write about this morning. The Campaign is set for June 15-Aug 2 and the purpose is evangelism. For seven weeks we will be engaging with our unchurched friends with the question: What on Earth am I Here for? Each week’s topic follows one of the six themes in Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life. 1. What on earth am I here for?, 2. You were planned for God’s pleasure, 3. You were formed for God’s family, 4. You were created to become like Christ, 5. You were shaped to serve God, 6. You were made for a mission.
The first question that often pops into people’s head as we talk about doing PDLC is, Can these topics be used evangelistically? And the answer is, Yes. And we will show you how—more than that we will give you the tools to do it.
The Cell Leaders have already been given a head-start on this at the Cell Leaders meeting in February. And if they have passed on the information to you, the plan to conduct PDLC shouldn’t be new to you.
The most important thing you need to do is to sign up as a Host &/or Facilitator. As a HOST your role is to open up your home (or office) so that a small group of people can meet together. As a FACILITATOR your role is to show a 20-minute video presentation and then facilitate a discussion around the topic. The training and materials will be provided for you.
The beauty of the programme is that it can be done any time; in small groups or one-on-one; anywhere, at home, at your office or even at an Old Town White Coffee restaurant. (However, you will need a laptop. But then again you may not need to, if you wish to dispense with playing the video presentation.)
Then, for those of you who think you can’t be a host or facilitator you can always join a group, organized by your cell, and invite your unchurched friends to it. A group of no more than eight is best.
Here’s what you need to do:
• Sign-Up as Hosts & Facilitators 5 Apr-3 May
• Attend the Training for Hosts & Facilitators 10, 16 & 23 May (attend only one)
• Start praying for your unchurched friends
I don’t want to overload you at this point with too much information. But be on the lookout in the next few weeks for more details.
In the meantime let’s be determined to be about Father’s business—Win the Lost and Glorify the Lord!
PrSH
