The new year has already begun to roll, and just like last year, before you know it, its going to fly by. Hopefully it won’t fly us by, because we’ll be in the thick of things, as we get ourselves fully engaged in everything that the Lord will be doing here.
To help you keep in step, I’d like to give you advance notice of some major events, at least for the first six months of the year, so you can block out dates and prepare yourself.

Ministry Leaders & CG Leaders’ Meeting
At the pastoral staff retreat in late October 2009, we concluded that while we were generally on the right track, we needed, however, to simplify and streamline structures and ministries in the church. This is to give us greater clarity and focus.
This has been presented and further deliberated at the Board Planning meeting in late November 2009.
Now its time to talk it through with the Ministry and CG leaders before we share this with the rest of church on 11 April. This time we would like to include the heads of the sub-departments, such as heads of the Preschool, Lower Primary and Upper Primary Departments of the Children’s Ministry, the heads of the Men’s Fellowship, Ladies’ Fellowship, Seniors’ Fellowship under the Family Life Ministry, etc., so that we are all on the same page.
Sunday, 11 April (9am-3pm)
Super Sundae
It is seldom that we get together as a church for anything longer than a Sunday service. So, we’ve set aside two Sundays this year for a Super Sundae.
“Super” because everything will happen on that one Sunday. For a whole week we won’t have our usual programmes such as the Prayer Meeting, Cell Meeting and Impact Youth Meeting. Instead they will be incorporated into the Super Sundae programme. One of the key things we will want to do in this inaugural Super Sundae is to bring greater clarity to the church about our focus, so that everyone will be in alignment and make a commitment to flow along with the movement.
“Sundae” because its not all serious stuff. Its going to be a fun time as well. And it will sure help if some kind soul/s are willing to sponsor a sundae for everyone on that Sunday!
Thursday, 3 to Saturday, 5 June
Leaders’ Retreat
We have set aside this time for the larger body of leaders in PJEFC (Board members, Ministry leaders and Cell leaders and spouses) to be encouraged and recharged for the next stage of our journey.
We’ve invited Pr Jeremiah Yap, minister-at-large for the New Life Restoration Centre group of churches, to minister to us. I am certain his ministry will be a blessing to us.
Sunday, 4 July
Inaugural Double Services
July 4 is the target date for the start of double services at PJEFC. It’s not because we are running out of space that we need to add a second service. The basic reason is to meet the needs of parents with little children and members who, at present, miss out on the Sunday worship because they have to do ministry concurrently with the service.
Preparations are underway and we will provide you with more details in the ensuing months.
I believe 2010 is going to be an exciting year as we step out in faith and do the God-thing.
