The final four chapters of the book of Judges describe a tragic tale of Levite’s concubine, the war against the tribe of Benjamin and the abduction of women from the Shiloh. The concluding line of the book is “In those days Israel had no king, and everyone did as they saw fit in their eyes.” When we start to do what is right in our own sight, like the Israelites and ignore God’s will for our life, disaster is bound to happen. It is important to learn from the book of Judges that Spiritual downfall precedes moral decline, therefore when a society drifts away from God’s will moral corruption starts to become a norm.  This story reveals something about humanity. When there is no law and accountability, humanity’s true nature is revealed, which is to do evil. The book of Judges screams for the need of a righteous and just king who lives forever and his kingdom never ends. Therefore, it points to the true King, Jesus Christ who is the only one capable to fulfill this need, because He is the one who destroyed the work of sin and death on the cross and through Him, we find eternal life. Brothers and sisters, if you want Jesus Christ to be the king in your life, then let’s respond to His call in our life as we listen to this sermon by Pastor Yu Yong on the final Chapters of the book of Judges.
