Here we are, by God’s grace,
celebrating PJEFC’s 53rd anniversary!

This congregation consists of people from different entry points at different years but what brings us together is, today, we are ONE congregation! One generation building upon the faithfulness of the one before. PJEFC has seen struggle. She has seen dryness. She has seen conflict. Yet, God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, has sustained her and given her faith to keep pressing on.

Amazingly, we are witnessing the tangible movement of His Spirit at work! It may not look the same as the revival years ago, but there is noticeably life breath-ed into ministries, CGs, and crusty souls! Praise the Lord for He is showing us His power, His heart, His love.

We experience how people are coming to the Lord amongst the migrant workers and the refugee communities. We hear testimonies of youth being transformed and challenged to grow in faith. We see new faces in Cell Groups. Church attendance is growing, people are seeking God in prayer, disciples are availing themselves to serve. Our thoughts and actions go beyond our self-care. When we encounter God, we are changed.

Many testify that they sense a difference in the church. And while the actual words may be elusive, it is evident that every good thing comes from God. And in His time, He makes things beautiful. God is indeed making His bride, the Church, beautiful.

PJEFC is privileged and blessed to experience this amazing working of the Holy Spirit. This is not the work of great strategies, or personalities, or even, dare I say, an efficient leadership team. No, it is the work of God Himself, calling His people, causing them to hear and respond. It is the work of God Himself, saving His people, moving their hearts and changing their lives. It is God’s call to unity, to humility, to repentance and to holiness.

As part of the anniversary activities, why not articulate what God has done in PJEFC this day, this week, this year, this decade! When we each bring a word or testimony to describe the goodness and greatness of God, we point others to look to and praise God. They will behold our God.

That is in fact the title of our new sermon series: Behold Our God. This short 3-weekend series aims to remind us of the attributes of God. As we look at who He is and what He is like, may our hearts bow in adoration, our souls sing with jubilation, and our outward acts bring glory to the God of our salvation.
