“…neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
To sign up or not? This question constantly popped in my mind for several weeks when the church promoted the Women’s Encounter Weekend (WEW). It took a dear sister from Cell Group to reach out and encourage me to finally make up my mind – to sign up.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8 (NIV)
How true this is! I went to WEW with the expectation of seeking God about a career change. Instead, He redirected my heart to a personal struggle that I’ve been suppressing.
For the second session, we read about Hannah who had a restless heart. Because she was barren, she was provoked by her rival to the point of deep anguish, which led her to pray to God. Like Hannah, it was my deepest desire to have children of our own.Though not as intense as her, I have had my fair share of provocation that triggered jealousy and desperation to the point of turning to Mr Google for a “miracle”. Yet, God is so amazing to speak into my struggle. During the second half, these five words stood out – “Let go and let God!”
Since then, when I feel the urge to type “how to get pregnant” or when friends announce their pregnancy, I pause and remind myself: let go and let God bring life into the world through my womb in His perfect timing.
So, when the church begins to promote the next WEW, I’d encourage all ladies who have that same indecisiveness to give your conflicting mind a rest. Sign up as soon as that question pops into your mind because God IS personally inviting you to encounter Him his way, not yours! -J
